Hi, and welcome to ENews 33. There are a lot of meetings to tell you about as it is that time of the month, and there is a work party in there as well.

RICHARD ATTWOOD'S WAG TIME BAND
There's a Works Action Group meeting on the 20th March at the Heritage Centre Saul, starting 7.30p.m. Discussion and progress reports for all volunteers interested and involved in practical restoration.

HEAD EAST
The following evening there's an Eastern Branch meeting, that's the 21st March at the Trout Inn, Lechlade as usual, cast off 7.30p.m. As usual.

The next Western Branch meeting is on the 2nd April at Fromebridge Mill as usual, cast off 7.30p.m. As usual.

Waterway Recovery Group - known affectionately as the WRGies - provides valuable support to us and other Canal Restoration Societies throughout the land. As a result of many opportunities opening up for volunteer work along the whole length of the Cotswold Canals, the Trust is keen to appoint one or more people to liaise with visiting volunteer groups such as WRG.
If you have an organisational flair, if you like meeting lots of people from all walks of life and all sorts of places but with a shared desire to help us restore our canals, this could be just the job for you.

Have you some experience in Project Management? If so then this is the one for you. Have a look at http://www.pikelock.co.uk/canal/t&scanal/eysey/eyseywpo.html, a website page set up by Ken Burgin, the Trust's Vice Chairman, to track down a coordinator for an exciting restoration project towards the Eastern End of the Thames & Severn Canal.
Over the last few months small working parties have been working on Rucks Bridge at Eysey and the proposal is to extend this work to the nearby Eysey Lock. This will dramatically increase the scale of the project and the Trust will need to attract external visiting groups, such as the Waterway Recovery Group (who have a provisional week long camp in July/Aug 2007 booked), in order to complete the work in a sensible timescale.

I am delighted to report that we could well have filled the vacancies advertised in ENews 32 for a Press Officer & a Quartermaster.
Negotiations are continuing with the interested parties....

CLEAN THE CUT
BW's National Towpath Tidy campaign starts in week commencing 26th March. As part of this years Campaign the Stroudwater's towpath is to receive attention, specifically between Ebley Mill and Pike Lock. This will happen on Wednesday 28th March, meeting 1pm at Ebley Mill. Park at Ebley and there will be some vehicles left at Pike Lock to ferry people back and forth.
Depending on numbers on the day it may be that we have the capacity to work eastwards as well as the planned westward onslaught. The more of us who can turn up then the cleaner the towpath will be.
BW will be supplying the litter picker uppers, bags and so on and, whilst it is recommended, safety footwear is not mandatory this time around.

There seems to be a misunderstanding flying around that you can only access the site if I have issued you with a User Name & Password.
Not true!
Any volunteer can register themselves and their interests for the first time by following the "Register Me Now" link. The volunteers who received a letter were those who had completed a Volunteer Register application sometime over the last 4 years as it was upon this information the database was established.
An especially warm welcome to those of you who have recently registered for the first time and since the website went live at the beginning of March.

SHORT NOTICE
I understand that Project Stroud are holding an exhibition cum talk cum discussion on proposals for linking Stroud to the canal, including the possibility of a Marina at Capels Mill. This is taking place in the Sub Rooms, Stroud this Monday 19 March from 7.00p.m onwards.
