Hello, and welcome to ENews number 35.
The first snippet is wonderful news as work party volunteers in particular have been waiting to hear this for a long long time.

COTSWOLD CANALS TRUST SCORES A NATIONWIDE FIRST
Our Chairman Bruce Hall has received a letter from British Waterways confirming that the Trust has achieved the standard required and is now accredited as a "Self Supervising Volunteer Organisation". I am told that we are the first in the country to be so accredited which is quite an achievement.
We shall have to advise BW of our work activities by way of a quarterly programme with anything out of the ordinary discussed and agreed at least a month beforehand.
BW say that we could not have reached this stage without the excellent work and sheer hard graft of our Health & Safety Director Keith Lloyd over the last 6 months or so. I know how much all this has taken out of him so I would like to say well done Keith and, on behalf of all of us, thank you.

Thrupp Parish Council is organising a Public Meeting on Tuesday 3rd April entitled "Canal Regeneration". It is taking place at Brimscombe Social Centre starting at 8.00pm. Here's the opportunity for you to give your views on the type of buildings you would like to see in Brimscombe Port itself.

CARDS FOR SALE(S)
Mention was made in a recent edition of our intention to accept plastic at Saul Heritage Centre.
Well, the terminal has arrived and I shall be taking it for a trial run this coming Saturday. We want to make sure the procedural stuff is easy to understand and that the terminal itself is easy to use.
We shall then prepare a brief training programme designed for the Heritage Centre volunteers in the first instance as they are the ones who will be regularly using the facility.

WATER TERRIBLE THOUGHT
The ENews Special Edition just issued was, I admit, a weighty tome but a really important one nonetheless. I urge you to plough through it because the future of the water supply to the eastern end of the Thames & Severn restoration could be at stake.
It seems as if the south east in general and London in particular will continue to have first call on all water in the Thames so please let the Environment Agency have your considered views at cams.thameswest@environment-agency.gov.uk
