Hello, and a warm welcome (in more ways than one after all that glorious Easter weather) to ENews 36. Especially to the new subscribers whose email addresses have been added as they became known to the CCT.

WHAT'S HAPPENING
There's a Work Party scheduled for Sunday 15th April, organised as ever by Alan Jones, at St Mary's Lock near Chalford. This could be your last chance to contribute to the wonderful achievements of Alan's team in this area as he anticipates moving further along the canal shortly.
Turn up on the day with your steel toe capped boots or contact Alan at 01453 794462 or Alan.GR.Jones@delphi.com for further information.
The next WAG (Work Action Group) meeting is on Tuesday 17th April at the Heritage Centre, Saul starting 7.30p.m. Meetings discuss the restoration as a whole and Work Parties, all interested volunteers are welcome.
The next Eastern Branch meeting is on Wednesday 18thApril at the Trout Inn, Lechlade.
Please note a change of date for the May Western Branch meeting as the first Monday is a Bank Holiday. It will now take place on MONDAY 14TH at Fromebridge Mill, Whitminster as usual.
Both meetings will undoubtedly discuss the new trip boat season, especially the ongoing need for crew. The Connect website has details of where there are vacancies in both rosters, if you can help or would like to receive some training please contact the relevant Activity Leader direct from the site.

I SEE EI SEY HAS CHANGED
The Waterway Recovery Group Camp is now scheduled for the period 28th July to 4th August which is a change to the date previously advised.

ROADSHOW ROVINGS
We are entering the busy out and about season for the Trust's travelling Heritage Centre, the Roadshow, and it's not too late to for you to offer some help, please.
At the moment it is booked into

BEALE PARK SHOW (on the Thames, near Reading) 8th-10th June,
SAUL FESTIVAL (of course) 29th June-1st July,
STROUD SHOW 21st July,
IWA NATIONAL 25th-27th August
CRICKLADE SHOW 27th August,
FRAMPTON COUNTRY FAIR 9th September.
There may well be others!

WHAT A WEEKEND
The Easter weather was responsible for the Trip Boat season getting off to a cracking start with 'Inglesham' at Lechlade operating over the 4 days and 'Perseverance' at Saul over 3.
It seemed as if the child catcher had been out at Saul, though, as there did not seem to be as many around as usual and there was a little local difficulty surrounding BW's introduction of Pay and Display car parking.
Nevertheless the Heritage Centre till was ringing away merrily selling ice creams as if they were going out of fashion, so much so that we almost ran out twice. All the costs and overheads have yet to be taken into account, nevertheless a lorra lorra volunteers put in a lorra lorra work this weekend to make a lorra lorra visitors very happy.

SOME LIGHT READING FOR YOU
The Cotswold Canals Conservation Management Plan (CMP) has been released in draft format and is available for download at

It is essential that the engineering work the restoration will bring enhances the unique heritage and environment of the Stroud Valleys for future enjoyment by the local community and visitors. CHIPPING AWAY
BW is hoping to arrange a weekend work party for the 28-29th April in the Frome Gardens, Ebley area. Details are still to be finalised but it's likely to involve chipping and brash clearance following recent extensive tree works.
Further info to follow as soon as it becomes available, meanwhile get the date booked in your diaries please.

HEATER REQUIRED NOW THAT SUMMER IS HERE
We are looking for a smallish heater for the Western Depot stockroom at Eastington. The experts tell me that ideally we need a night storage heater, 1.5Kw maximum 2Kw of the slim line variety.
If you have such a beastie please let me know.
