RESPONSIBLE DRINKING?
The Waterways Trust is behind another Lottery application that is going to be decided upon VERY shortly. Their press release headline should not be taken the wrong way, however......I prefer a full-bodied Merlot myself.

£80,000 is up for grabs and with your help we can win this money for Stroud.
A project to rebuild the historic walls of Brimscombe Port has been selected to face a public vote by Big Lottery Peoples Millions.
Next Monday -26th - the project will go head to head against a scheme in Wiltshire for a winner takes all £80,000. Both projects will be shown on that day's 6pm news on ITV West.
This community led project will save the historic Port Wall from dereliction by removing the trees and undergrowth that are growing out of it. The path behind the wall will be widened and improved so everyone can use it - including wheelchair users and people with pushchairs. Local people will be trained in heritage skills to repair and restore the masonry and traditional lime mortar.
So what can I do? - Vote please!
The telephone number will be released on http://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/peoplesmillions at 9am on Monday 26th November - look for 'The Waterways Trust Brimscombe Port Walls'.
THE LINES WILL ONLY BE OPEN FROM 9AM UNTIL MIDNIGHT ON MONDAY 26TH.
Votes can only be cast by phone, you can vote up to 10 times from each of your phones. Land line calls cost 10p, mobile & other operators' rates will vary.

The rest of this will drive you loco if you follow my train of thought - but I wish to express the following.
In April 2006 the inaugural issue of ENews departed to a total of 118 Inboxes; this latest issue will terminate at 1,029 buffers!
The project nearly derailed a couple of times - that would have made some kings cross - and I am flattered by the number of you who have stayed on line. This communication cord must be on the right track, therefore. The rate of attrition appears to be exceedingly low, even when during the floods there was no water loo for many of us. I subscribe to the train of thought that the more people we can keep on track with what's going on the better, especially now that we have the green light and the restoration is steaming ahead. The Work Action Group will be planning activities so once we get WAGon to this......
If you enjoy reading ENews then please feel free to signal it to friends & neighbours, the milkman, postman, like, all together pull, man - in fact anybody at all who is interested in the restoration of the Cotswold Canals. We have a good platform for the next target of, say, 1,500 by our second anniversary in April 2008. Guarded optimism here, and maybe Don Caster, Mary Le Bone and Sid Ings will have joined us after their period in the United States....or their term in U S.
Final thought - is it true that the restaurant at the new Eurostar terminal in London, which is already developing a reputation for fried crab and lobster, is called Pan Crustacean?

3rd December - Western Branch Meeting at Gloucester Yacht Club, by kind permission of the Commodore. Fromebridge Mill will be heavily into its Christmas party season by then but we shall be back there in January.
The Yacht Club is in Gloucester Docks; use the Southgate Street entrance (by the Tall Ships pub), follow the road round to the right & the Club is about 100 yards in front of you.
