Welcome to the latest edition of the Cotswold Canals Trust's Electronic Newsletter. =========================================== Until very recently, Keith Lloyd has been in charge of this fledgling division. However because of his responsibilities as the Trust's Health & Safety Director he feels he should remain independent of all activities toenable him to take an unbiased view of any activity and comment accordingly. In view of this Keith is stepping down as the Archaeological Team Leader, and a volunteer is sought to take over this role. He is more than happy to discuss this with any interested party, and will also go through a job description. Keith can be contacted direct at keith-lloyd@supanet.com ============= A website has been put together by the Communications group of the Cotswold Canals Partnership and its objective is to provide an overview of the restoration over the next 3 years. There are links to all the partners and new pages will be added as & when appropriate. The new website is currently being constructed and the various partners are working to get every section "populated"; the address is http://www.cotswoldcanalsproject.org/. Why not have a look; should you have any constructive comments or thoughts then please let me know. ========================= The Trust was again represented at the IWA National this year. The weekend attracted some 27 new members, and sales of books, souvenirs etc, along with an unexpected and most welcome donation of £300, boosted the Trust's coffers by a significant amount. Also on display was a working example of some lock paddle gear that has been designed and built by Trust members. Without exception it was very favourably received by all those who had a go and it is to be hoped that the design can be successfully promoted in the appropriate quarters! Sincere thanks are due to all those who helped make the weekend such a success. ============================================ These informal evenings resume on Monday 4th September at the usual venue - Fromebridge Mill , Whitminster. Commencing 7.30 p.m. Do come and join us for a pint and a chat. ================= Jack Telling, Financial Controller, reports: "In the circumstances I regard a profit of £34,000 as a very good result and it represents a crucial contribution to the Trust's Restoration Fund. We must raise at least £100,000 per year, from all sources, to meet our commitments to contribute to the restoration of the Cotswold Canals. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank all volunteers who worked so hard to make the Festival a great success. Their commitment is greatly appreciated." ============================================ The Trust will be represented at this prestigious local event......if you feel you can help for an hour or so with Sales or with talking to members of the public about the CCT and the restoration then please email me: david@well-springs.co.uk ......as soon as possible if you could! ============================= If you have any newsworthy items relating to any aspect of the Trust's activities and you feel that they deserve to be delivered to a larger audience then please let me know.
