NEWS BITS AND 2 JOB OPPORTUNITIES!
I am sad to report that Bill Evill has resigned as Sales Manager of the Trading Company citing personal reasons. Bill has been a loyal servant of the Trust for many years and we should all be grateful for his achievements over this time. Thank you, Bill.....you will be missed.

Some archaeological excavations have recently been carried out by CCT volunteers at the site of the old Swing Bridge at Ebley Mill. Finds included the base of the bridge pivot, a timber frame made of large baulks holding the pivot stones in place and what appeared to be a type of cobbled pavement.
If any of you know anything about the history of this bridge, or have an idea what the cobbles were all about then Keith Lloyd would appreciate hearing from you - keith-lloyd@supanet.com

Tracy Stephens has resigned from the role of Postal Sales Manager. She has done a great job reorganising the sales stock, a job that had needed to be done for quite some time, and her efforts in this area are really appreciated.

Ken Bailey, one of the Trust's Directors, regularly visits and photographs any changes to the structure or character of the western end of the canals. Some of the resultant photos can be viewed at http://www.smartgroups.com/pictures/openpicture.cfm?GID=2351330. Additionally he has built up a collection of pictures over the years that has provided useful information when work has been, or is being, planned. So - if you want to know what something or somewhere looked like in years gone by then Ken is probably your man......If any of you have any old photos or slides that he could borrow to scan then please let him know at Ken@ladywood.f9.co.uk. Similarly if you have any digital pictures that you feel may be of interest to him then he would welcome sight of them on a CD please rather than email.
AND NOW......SOME OUTLINE DETAILS OF TWO NEW ROLES
1. Stock Control Manager (Quartermaster)
This opportunity is ideally suited to either an individual or a couple.
The Quartermaster will be based at the Western Depot, Eastington to administer and manage the CCT sales stock. Such duties will be undertaken on Monday and Wednesday mornings as required or at other times to suit.
The role involves:
- Receiving deliveries of new stock at Eastington
- Maintaining safe and orderly storage of stock to allow ease of selection, turnover and replacement
- Receiving Stock Request Order forms from the CCT's sales outlets:-
* Roadshow
* Talks Sales Box
* Lechlade
* Saul Heritage Centre
* Website
- Assembling orders from stock held and arranging collection of these from Eastington by a representative of the relevant sales outlet
- Preparing and despatching mail order sales
- Liaising with Trust Book-Keeper re stock taking and re-ordering
You will require:
- Good organisational skills
- Internet access and basic Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet experience (Training can be given)
The use of a CCT funded "Pay as you Go" mobile is offered as an option
2. Travelling Promotions Unit Manager (Roadshow Manager)
This opportunity is ideally suited to either an individual or a couple
The role involves:
- Confirming events & booking pitches with event organisers
- Contacting suitable volunteers to form the Roadshow team (bearing in mind both the sales and recruitment objectives)
- Liaising with the Quartermaster re: appropriate sales stock and promotional material
- Organising the logistics of transporting the required equipment - canvas, sales stock, promotional material etc - to the event
- Overall responsibility for relevant Health and Safety issues
- Maintaining appropriate bookings records
- Reporting to the Trading Company Directors on a regular basis
The successful candidate[s] will have:
- Good organisational & communication skills
- An ability to motivate staff
- A willingness to attend some events to consider suitability of event for the future, Roadshow appearance, stocking levels, balance of staff etc
- Internet access and basic Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet experience (Training can be given)
The use of a CCT funded "Pay as you Go" mobile is offered as an option
